Our Gorenje W8543C seems to be crashing about rather more than usual when balancing a heavy load – sometimes the drum hits the side of the casing. This machine has never been brilliant in this respect, but I’m sure it didn’t used to be this bad.
I’ve just checked the dampers (these I think – https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/111818-washing-machine-shock-absorber) and I can pull them in and out by hand easily. They do have some resistance still but it’s not a lot.
Do they sound like they are worn out please?
new dampers take a fair amount of force to move them
you can tell when they are gone, if you take the lid off and push down on the drum and release in quick succession it should resist the movement but if you can make it alomost bounce you know they are well gone
