We’ve not reported on the WTA for some time, largely because not a lot has been going on that was worthy of any real reporting, but hopefully that is set to change in the coming months.

This was not helped by a complete IT mess up after Covid, then the aftermath of Covid and so forth that’s all explained here if you want all the gory details.

Now the association is set to restart normal operations after sorting a lot of these issues out and subscriptions are due to restart in the New Year.

Also, there is likely to be a smaller meeting in March (the time being discussed) that members can comment on in this thread on the WTA forums.

Why Now?

You might be wondering why, all of a sudden, the WTA is re-energised, and it’s a fair question that there isn’t one simple answer to.

After Covid struck and the world shut down, there obviously wasn’t a lot happening anywhere, but even after that abated for a few years, nothing major really happened.

In 2023, things started to come back to life though it was still a bit limited.

Around the end of that year the TA looked to hold a conference in 2024 only to be told that there were still restrictions on numbers at the venue used at Yarnfield so, it was decided to put a pin in it.

All the while the TA had been dealing with the Right To Repair (R2R) stuff and a few other things. In 2025, they were asked about members being used more for service, as it’s believed things are starting to get back to normal, and they have been representing the repairer’s point of view to the government regarding R2R.

All these little things started to pile up, and it was felt that the time had come to get the WTA back on track.

Then, just recently, it was discovered that DASA seems to have more or less shut down, leaving the only trade association option available for repairers to be the WTA.

If you want the latest from the WTA you can subscribe to their email newsletter from this link, it’s not a barrage of emails, just the odd one occasionally with updates and it is not restricted to members only.
