I’m about to order a new PCB for this machine but I have a doubt!

The machine is stuck in the wash cycle and won’t progress, water is heating so it’s not the heater, therefore I assume it’s the electronics.

There is a main PCB and a control PCB with selectors for the knobs which seems to have a chip on it.
I was going to order the main PCB, is that correct?

    Thanks!

    So…
I ordered the pcb and… it didn’t fit, connections all wrong. Turns out there are two different boards listed for this model and serial no! Well you learn something everyday
However with the original pcb fitted, I observed that the programs had shifted one position, i.e. if you selected program 10 (spin+drain), it does a rinse (which should be program 9), if you select program 11 (Duvet), it does a Spin+drain (which should be program 10). I don’t know if they run through properly as wasn’t there long enough.
    Any ideas?

    hotpoint goes by industrial code
with your machine the are 2. one is

    769991541741 uses C00384515
    and
    769991541742 uses C00552844

try some switch cleaner on the top board as could just be dirty contacts

Could the knob have cracked and slipped on the control shaft?

It’s always worth checking the type of module fitted on Hotpont/Indesit before ordering. As for the correct software, well that can be another story.

Thanks Dave and Murv. When I looked it up on ASWO, both boards came up for the machine, even though I chose the correct industry code. Because only one board showed as available, I assumed it had superseded the other. Very misleading! You can supply the industry code and serial number (which I did) or tick Unprogrammed. I learned my lesson, I won’t be ordering another board without checking what’s in the machine first.

Will check the knob and clean top board when I next go.

    It is confusing.

Indesit retail site only shows the white Arcadia board for this model but Dave found both Arcadia and Windy on the trade site.

In many cases I have found that ASWO just list all versions of board and software for a model and do not filter them down for the relevant industrial code. This problem also shows up on motors, wiring and interlocks which often vary during production. Its best to check these as well before ordering.

I no longer have access to the trade site but in the past have found the information much better but not always perfect.

That’s good to know. Is that just for Whirlpool group machines?
There goes my dream of near 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} first time fixes

On the plus side, ASWO have agreed for me to return the board.

the situation is not helped by the manufacturers reluctance to share the relavant info. I do not have any sanctioned manufacturers info only what i have been able to scrounge.

Can’t really say what other brands are like. But Merloni Group machines seem to be the most reprogrammable and therfore internal components are easily changed in production at a whim.

For the last 8years I have only done I only done workshop work for other traders. Most are older versions (5Yr +) of Hotpoint/Indesit and Beko. I offer crazy services to small scale local traders. Sealed tank bearings, simple module repairs, used modules reprogrammed etc.

I liked the sound of reprogramming of used modules, but sadly a bit too far, am in Greater Manchester.

The top board was dirty (spot on Dave), it had been dripped on. When shown to customer, he then mentioned that the washing up water sometimes spills on worktop and drips on the washing machine. I did notice some rust on the top the other day and when I opened it today it was quite bad. Contact cleaner applied and now seems to select the correct programs at least. Still looks contaminated so we will have to wait and see if a longer cycle goes through ok, otherwise it’s a new top board or he might decide to get a new machine.
