    Hello!

I was wondering if some clever person could help me work out what’s wrong with my washing machine?

When I try to start a cycle, the machine makes several clunk and beeping sounds and flashes the red lock symbol. I’ve had a repairman from hotpoint come round, he changed the motor and I even heard the drum spinning. However as soon as he left and I reattached the water I get the same problem.
I’ve created a short video that shows what it does https://youtu.be/hblFDnu30XY

Please could someone help? I’ve been without a washing machine for a month now.

    Thankyou!

Why didn’t the hotpoint repair man fully test the machine to make sure it was functioning properly, I would start with the door lock if that’s fine it maybe a fault in the wiring to the motor or the plug to the motor has come loose

Thanks very much for your reply, he did test it somehow as I heard it spinning, he said that it was all fixed but then it didn’t work when I reattached the water. A previous person checked the lock and said it wasn’t the issue but that was my first thought too. The door won’t open now since he’s been, unless I force it to by using the tag. I’ve also drained out the filter. Going a bit mad here, I’m happy to get my hands dirty but don’t know where to start.

if you touch anything before you get hotpoint back you could void any warranty you have on the repair

    Thanks Dave,

Yes I know the risk but it took them weeks to come out the first time, then another few weeks to send out a technician and given that he had it working I was hoping it might be something simple that I was missing, ahh well

Well checking that the motor is plugged in and that the door lock is plugged in is where I would start
