    Hi,
This dishwasher is 13 years old and has been working perfectly until today. Following a cycle, we noticed a strange smell in the kitchen which didn’t seem to be any of the usual from washing machine etc.
I opened the dishwasher, the display was 0 but the pump was still running. I have gone through the usual of unplugging and resetting the cycle which currently will not clear to 0 but can be switched to any of the programmes. I Have pressed the buttons to access the error messages and have seen these (C6 E5).
I am not capable of stripping it down and would appreciate if anyone could help to diagnose what it may be and whether it’s worth having it looked at please.

there is a float in the base to detect leaks. there has been a leak and the float turns the pump on till the water goes

you either need to pull it out and very carefully and slowly tilt the unit back to about 45 degrees and allow the water to leak out onto the floor. dont do it quickly in case the water gets on electrics

take the side off and mop it out

or leave it 5 days and see if it evaporates

if it has a leak it will happen again but they can have bad days and flood

    Thanks Dave,
I will have to get someone in to look at this, I wonder if it could prove to be uneconomical due to the age?

depends if its leaking or not

on your unit there is a water metering unit on the left side. these are prone to getting gummed up and causing this fault

so it may just need a clean out , have done loads of them

Just an update.. the visiting engineer found water in the base. He explained he dried it and found a blocked pipe which he cleaned and ran a cycle without issue.
We have used it once without issue, if it happens again in the future, I will just replace it.
    Thanks for the input.
