ParticipantI have checked the drainage hose and cleared any debris from the kitchen waste pipe and still no success i.e water not draining. I suspect it is the pump or maybe the outlet filter is clogged. How do I check this?
I will appreciate any help. by the way there are no engineers in my area so I would most likely have to do it my self. About a month ago you successfully guided me to replace the element in my smeg oven.June 9, 2005 at 8:53 am #137855Dave_Conway

E6 is a no drain fault for sure.
The pump is not easily accessable on these and a bit more invloved that the fan element I’m afraid.
You may be able to access it by removing the plinth and lower cover, with the power off :zap:

Thanks Dave, I think I’ll attempt to fix it at the weekend and I’m thinking I’d better order a pump because from looking at other posts the Smeg d/ws seem prone to pump failure at some point in their life, so it won’t go to waste if it’s a blocked filter. So could you kindly give me info re. ordering one.
Much appreciated as always,

Hi Dave,
A big THANKYOU for all your help. After moving the dishwasher and following the drainage tube I discovered that I had mistaken the washing machine drainage tube for the d/w drainage tube. I subsequently removed a mass of rice and gunk and the d/w now works. What I don’t understand is howcome the filter didn’t prevent this occuring?…
THANKS again,

It happens all the time to be honest, check the mesh one for damage, more importantly, ensure the filter is fitted in the correct position and emptied after every wash if possible.
Food particles when hot and wet will be “squashy” and can fit through much smaller gaps than you would expect 😉
Dave.
