ParticipantHi,
I inherited a Bosch Exxcel 8 washer when I moved to this house. Seemed fine and has been working well for over three years, However, this morning the on/off/pause light is flashing and the programme cycle (0:41, 30deg, 600rpm) is stuck in one position, irrespective of which cycle is selected. The child lock light is also flashing (whether the door is open or not) and pressing any buttons just causes a double-bleep. I would attach a photo, but I keep getting an error message (exceeding upload usergroup’s quota?), despite following the instructions.
I’ve already checked the ‘gunk’ filter and apart from a few strands it was fine.
Can anyone offer any assistance, please?

ParticipantUPDATE:
I have found on the internet various ways to enable/disable the child lock, but NONE of these methods work.December 5, 2021 at 4:32 pm #480149electrofix
Moderatorwith later machines you can only take the child lock off if you have selected the programme that was selected when you activated it
turn the programme knob one click at a time and look for the one where the child lock key is not flashing
then try to take it off

ParticipantThanks for getting back Dave. Yes, that worked. After a few selections it eventually became steady – now switched off! 🙂
Thanks again,

ParticipantOnly Bosch could do something that crazy. I got caught out with that one too.

ParticipantExactly my thoughts. I was all ready to order a new one (not Bosch) as I was flying out next week and had a load of washing waiting. I persevered as I felt it was something quite simple and Dave’s advice saved me around £500 🙂
Actually, it got me thinking that perhaps people who help on forums should have a ‘Donate’ button linked to their PayPal account so that small donations could be made. Once the answer is given, the enquirer has the choice to donate (or not) to that person. Just a thought.
A bit like “have a pint on me” 😉

ParticipantDave, you have my sympathies and support! I’ve just had my third biopsy following a return of my cancer and have been in remission for just four years.
I’d click that button 🙂
