Hi there, I’m new to this Forum and an amateur. Recently our ISE 10 1606W has been reluctant to spin at full revs, or even at 800 it seems. Washing usually coming out quite damp afterwards. I did a Test Spin cycle empty, and it changed up through the rev range nicely, and it did OK with a small load of washing. As soon as a medium or full load is in, it only spins at lower revs. I’ve read somewhere that it could be the suspension!!! Help please. Cheers, Stephen.

Does it appear to be having difficulty balancing the load before going into spin, is it swaying from side to side noticeably? The suspension on these is quite robust generally. A serious ‘out of balance’ condition should throw up an error message, I think it’s 3 dashes in the display window. The easiest way to check the suspension is to unplug the mains cable, then remove the lid. Press down on the top of the drum and quickly release. The drum should come back up to it’s normal position in one smooth action, it should not push down easily or bounce back.

Thanks for that advice. No error messages (3 dashes), and it doesn’t appear to be struggling balancing the load before going into spin, but I will watch more closely. I’ll also do the press test and watch for bounce. Thank you

Hi there again. I did a a “push test” and it popped up with what I can only describe as a bit of “double shudder”, and it did come back up more to one side before settling centrally.. I don’t think I pushed down too hard. (I took a video but don’t know how I could share that.) The springs sometimes creak when the machine is in use (not when spinning) but we’ve got used to that. Cheers, Stephen.

You would have to host the video on a video sharing platform then post a link.

The thing is worn or weak suspension can only cause poor spin if is causing the drum to bounce around when the machine is trying to distribute the load leading to out of balance. That is when it is turning a little faster than a wash speed to plaster the clothes to the side of the drum. Once it is balanced and going smoothly into spin it ‘should’ continue up to the full speed for the selected wash programme.

Does the machine appear to be draining correctly?

Hi there, I lost the thread when computer crashed, then Christmas, then Covid! Yes, it is draining OK.
I gave the filter a good clean (as I regularly do) checked it was well-balanced on the floor, since when it has spun at least at 800 even when on 1600, and generally most things coming out acceptably well. Still not sure why 1600 isn’t happening when loaded, but only when empty. Hey ho! Can’t have all things, and the machine continues to run after 10+ years pretty well. Thanks for your interest and advice. If it goes “wonky” again, I’ll come back to the forum. Cheers, Stephen.
