    Hi
I have a SMEG C7GPX8 Oven that just unexpectedly just didn’t switch on one day. It is 2 and half years old – so out of warranty.

    • I took the back off and the left hand thermostat (Ty60 – as viewed from back of oven) was blown/open. I replaced it but it still doesn’t switch on.
    • The other remote thermostat is fine (ie now both remote thermostats have continuity i.e. closed). Now the lock function seems to operate whereas it didn’t before replacing it??
    • I have checked and there is resistance/continuity across all the three oven elements.
    • Door switch seems to make continuity when shut and no continuity when open.
    • I have had this switched off and on many times.
    • I have deleted the data in the clock (following the manual) a number of times. No A is flashing only it has a heat symbol above the dot in the time – is that supposed to be there?

Anyway the light doesn’t come on and none of the elements in the oven wont work. Any ideas?

Dont know without looking in manual but A in a lot of cookers stands for automatic and the unit has to be set for manual

Thanks Electrofix. The A isn’t flashing so its on Manual mode. We have had it for a wee while and it just starting acting oddly.

It’s faulty but just not sure what to fix. Whether it needs a new timer or board as I think everything else checks out as ok?
