    Hi all,

    Our 9 month old Bosch SGS43C12 has suddenly become very slow. As I write this, it’s still churning away after 3.5 hours on the “Normal 65 deg C” cycle. I don’t know what a normal cycle time is because I never timed it when it was working properly, but it feels like it is taking forever.

    I’ve removed and cleaned the filters and spinning arms, I’ve checked the drain pipe is clear, and I’ve shoved the drain pipe into a bucket to watch the pump working – seems ok.

    Could anyone shed any light on the cause of the problem? Where should I look, or what tests can I try?

    Is it heating Jim? Programme will pause until wash temperature is achieved. At nine months old you are still comfortably within your guarantee period, so get BSH on the case.

    Possibly water has leaked on to the base plate. Don’t go any further. Get it looked at. 😀 Follow the link below.

    Thanks for your replies. 🙂

    It is heating, but I’m not convinced it’s reaching normal temperatures. The drain water pumped out was luke warm at best.

    I will get BSH to look at it, as you suggest. It’s an ex-display model – will this have had any effect on the warranty and/or the cost of getting it fixed?

    As long as you can provide proof of purchase (if asked?) they can tell from the date code stamped on it exactly how old it is anyway. There should be no charge to you unless you have contravened the ‘conditions of warranty’ provided with the machine, your statutory rights will not be affected in any way.

    You were exactly right BSH-MAN, there was a leak of water on to the baseplate. One of your colleagues was here this morning, and he’s wrapped a zip-tie around the offending tube, this I am told will solve the problem. The marigolds can go back in the cupboard, hurrah!

    Can you please decribe the zip-tie and the offending tube a little more in details. Where exactly was the leakage?
