ParticipantOur single built-in oven (about 13 years old) has been fine when cooking at 180 degrees for 30 mins, but recently it cuts out if we want to cook anything for 45 minutes or an hour. After cooling down for 10-15 minutes, it will work again, only to cut out again after another 15 minutes or so. It doesn’t trip the fuse, but the element and fan cuts out. Also the panel above the door gets extremely hot. The problem is, it cut out on Christmas day, but on Jan 2 it was fine @ 160 degrees for about 45 minutes.
The model is Competence B3101-4, and the info plate inside the oven has these details:
PNC 944 185 295
TYP 91 AHD 01 GA

ParticipantI read the info on the link you included. It says …. your oven will go totally dead after about ten to fifteen minutes, no lights, no clock or anything else will power up.
But when our oven cuts out, the clock still works, it’s just the heat and the fan that ceases to funtion.January 6, 2022 at 8:55 pm #480554electrofix
Moderatorsome do stop with the clock still lit
the main thing is the cooling fan does not run so its either the above part or the fan
Does you cooling fan run? thats not the one thats in the back of the oven cavity

ParticipantThe only fan that I know of, and is visible, is the one at the back of the oven inside. But when the oven does ‘cut out’, there is not the usual ‘hum’ of a fan. It’s just silent until it cools down and it will start up again. In day-to-day usage it’s working fine when cooking something for 20-30 minutes. It only cuts out if I want to cook, say, a chicken or joint of meat for an an hour or longer.

ParticipantAt the top of the oven are the Grill elements but there’s no visible fan or a grill for one.

ParticipantThe oven is in a fitted recess, and I’m not going to try taking anything apart. Probably it’s time to call in an engineer from the company. Thanks for all your input!
