I have just replaced the grill event in our Cannon range cooker. I had thought I had obtained an exact replacement but when fitted and tested it wouldn’t work. Looking at it again I see that I have inadvertently sourced a grill element that instead of being made up of two separate 1300w elements I have one that is 1800w/800w. Putting my thinking cap on, I swapped the connections to suit the two different elements as they were not configured like the old one and it is now working on both settings except that it isn’t half and half. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t leave this as fitted and operate as before?- accepting that I have a slightly bigger grill on minimum setting.

cant think of a reason and the chances are you will not need to use both elements as the centre element should be big enough

That’s what I was thinking but thought worth asking. Many thanks.
