ParticipantHi!
My No-frost fridge freezer started to beep and flash the SUPER and 3 deg C, 3 days ago.
I did a thorough manual defrosting and the problem did not re-appear for 40 hours
Initially the dial was rotated clockwise to select a fridge temperature at 5 deg.I also placed digital thermometers in the Freezer section and also below in the Fridge. While working ok, temperatures were -26 (freezer) and 3,5 (fridge).
Yesterday night
21:00 it started beeping the same error (SUPER and 3) and the temperatures were -16 (freezer) and 5 (fridge). The alarm sounded and right
after that the compressort started working, and after ~30 seconds the alarms stopped21:50 new beepeing (same error), temperature readings were -20 (freezer) and 5 (fridge), the compressor was running, I just opened and closed the fridge door and it stopped
22:45 new beepeing (same error), temperature readings were -18 (freezer) and 5 (fridge), the compressor was running, could not get the alarm to stop
23:00 it started to beep continuosly while the compressor had stopped, temperature readings were -18 (freezer) and 5 (fridge) and by opening the freezer door I could hear like ice being melted on something really hot (I assume a defrost cycle started – although it is hard to believe that there was much ice build-up)
Today at 06:00 it was still beeping (obviously throughout the night also), temperature was much higher, -10 (freezer) and 8 (fridge) and the compressor was not running. I switched it off for 1 minute and then replugged-it. The compressor started and stopped almost instanlty and the beeping started again.
Any ideas what to look for? I have read in the forum about some Liebherr devices and the suggested remedy was a new evaporator temperature sensor, but to be honest I don’t know how this is connected… Any idea to measure somewhere with a polymeter? Any idea where to look for the evaporator temperature sensor? Is it in the fridge (behind the light panel) or freezer area?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Regards

ParticipantHi, thanks, MIELE KTN 4582 SD ed

182Can you advise on where the sensor is located? Fridge or Freezer area?
Also, since the device is ~15 years old and in the last 5 years I need to manually de-frost due to ice build-up, maybe there is somehing wrong with the de-frost system (thermostat or other)? Or the evaporator sensor is also related to this function? Thanks again

ParticipantFridge evaporator sensor 9590206 required, located behind cover at the end of the light housing and screwed to rear wall in a fixing, freezer drain icing up which can cause severe icing under the floor cover has no recommended fix, but I have in the past placed a heat sink wire around the finned rod heater and then down the drain and renewed foil tape in drain channel, not a fix for a novice due to the complexity in gaining access without damaging cooling pipes.

ParticipantHi Tony, thanks! I have replaced the sensor and the beeping and flashing is gone!
But…. after starting the device again, it started to work (compressor) and everything started to cool down. I have placed digital thermometers in both sections, so I have checked and after 4-5 hours of continous running, the freezer showed -26 deg while the fridge was down to 0 deg Celcius… So I lowered the temperatrure switch (to higher temperature) and the compressor stopped… Unfortunately, now there are 4 hours gone and still the temperatures are rising (freezer -14 and fridge 8) and the device does not start…. Any indication on what could be wrong? It seems as the temperature does not enforce the system to start running again…. I even left the doors open for 3-4 minutes and still the compressor is not starting….
