ParticipantStarted searching the internet when my fridge freezer started playing up and found this website. I am obviously not alone with the problem I have just experienced with my Hotpoint Minstral FF93.
The fridge temperature started going up, +18C. I checked the thermistors (reading resistance of several kohms and resitance changes with temperature) and these seemed to be working. I put it all back together and hours later wife says who’s a clever boy then; it all seemed to work again 😆 . The next day, get a text message ‘the fridge temperature is going up again’. When I got home from work I find it is OK again 😥 . This cycle of events has happened three time now. I know it is not the door switch stopping the fan as I have checked this. Could it still be the thermistors.
Having read most of the forums with a similar problem I have found it hard to come to a conclusion as what the eventual fix was. Could someone please advise? I am going to order replacement thermistors and give it a good defrost and hope that does the trick.

I’d also be interested in advice on this – mine has *exactly* the same problem, as of Saturday. When I press the fridge door switch, sometimes the fan will run, but only for a few seconds. The air valve in the fridge is open, so it knows it should be trying to cool with air from the freezer.
The fan also doesn’t seem to run to circulate the air in the freezer – as a result it’s freezing up at the back more quickly than normal.
As a workaround, I’ve wired the fan permanantly on (which will begger up the automatic de-ice cycle, but it’s working for now). Could do with a proper wiring diagram really.

If you read all the other “Mistral”and “Hotpoint FF??” threads there’s enough info there to help 😀

😆
Hello, thought I would update readers on progress.
I have replaced the two freezer thermistors (purchased from UK whitegoods shop of course and at £28 a pair less than a call out charge). The fridge temperature has been fine for over a week now so I am now saying it is fixed :D. The fridge freezer had a good defrost as well, although there was little wate r collected so do not know it was a factor. My conclusion was it was a faulty thermistor (an intermittant fault)
Any all smiles, wife is happy, thank to the Website
Bye till the next problem -
