    Hi All,

As above I am getting four flashes when the DW runs a cycle, the inside is full of water when the four flashes occur. So I replaced drain pump, which had a resistance reading of 141 ohms. The new pump shows 171 ohms. However, after replacing the drain pump the 4 flashes still occur.

So I was looking to replace the pressure switch, the current switch has continuity across pins 1 and 3 AND continuity at pins 2 and 3 when removed and checked.

Could anyone confirm if it should have continuity across all terminals when checked. As I saw a video which said continuity across pins 1 and 2 when empty and 2 and 3 when full? But am not sure if the switch is at fault or it could be something else?

    Thanks
    Smithie

Have you checked the wires as they leave the bottom of the door as its common for them to break

Hi Dave, Yes checked the wires, I’d reinforced the plastic cover to the wires before and all wires are intact.

    is the pump energising ?

it should do a short pump at the start of every programme

Hi Dave, sorry here is more detail.

    Yes the pump energises.

More Info: I put it on the short 30min 40degree wash as a test, everything works as should, jets spinning and heater working.
Part way through (possibly 15-20mins in) there is a quietish period where I hear a whir (as if the drain pump is spinning but unable to drain any water). This goes on for about 3-4mins and then the machine flashes 4 times and continues to bleep.

When I open the door, the water is hot and steam is released. The base is full of water.

I then turn eveything off, touch the drain pump which feels warm (this is the case for the new drain pump and old one that was replaced)

The first time it did this I removed the pressure switch, it wasn’t that grubby, a build up of grease but I cleaned this all, checked the diaphragm membrane which is not split and can hear the microswich clicking.

When I checked the continuity (with the pressure switch removed) I get continuity across pins 1-3, 1-2 and 2-3. When I press the diaphragm down I get continuity across pins 2-3 and no continuity across pins 1-2, 1-3.

    Thanks

ok so it can only be pump not running or a blockage

if the pump is running then it can only be an air lock or a blockage

how did you test the outlet hose ?

if you lay the out hose on the floor does the water run out ?

    THANKS DAVE,

You sorted it you star!! I stripped it back to the sump as you were convinced it was the hose and kept pouring boiling water but it did not out pass the removed drain pump side, eventually after a lot of pours it seemed to give way, I assume the fat or gunk just melted.

Anyway ran the 30min wash and all good.

Thanks again for spending so much time replying on a Sunday.

    regards
