ParticipantFirst time poster.
I have the Zanussi built in electric cooker – model zzb35901xc (product number 94406488801). Recently while using the oven setting then changing to the grill setting there was a loud pop and buzz and the cooker lost heat. The grill and oven both will now not get hot. The cooker still has power – clock is set correctly, lamp still comes on, fan spins and the power light remains lit when changing between cooker settings. But it will not get hot. I noticed the grill element had a large hole in it so replaced it, but still the cooker will not get hot. At this point I noticed the temperature indicator light was not coming on, so I replaced the thermostat. But still, the cooker would not get hot. I have since replaced the oven element thinking this would help, but still the cooker (grill or oven) will not get hot. I have checked all wiring, Terminal block and switch for any loose connection or scorch markings, but – nothing. Any advice on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated, before I end up replacing every part of the cooker!

Moderatorhave you had a close look at the switch for damaged contacts. you may have to remove it to see the contacts unless you can use a mirror

ParticipantHey Dave, thanks for the quick reply and advice. To be honest, the function switch was going to be the next thing to replace on my list (can pick one up for about £30/35) and after removing it and inspecting it I noticed there were some scorched marks around one particular connection… the wire that leads to the grill element! This could be case closed. I will replace the switch and let you know.
I would upload a picture of the function switch but apparently I can only upload 19.5kb Which wouldn’t make for a good visual reference..

ParticipantThanks Dave, incredibly I found the part from a sellar on ebay for only £15!
So adding up the cost of replacing the grill element (£16) oven element (13 – which I returned anyway) thermostat (£32) and now function switch (£15) I think it’s still been cheaper than a call out from an engineer! I just hope it fixes the problem.

ParticipantQuick update, the new switch arrived today which I fitted and has fixed the issue.
Big thank you to Dave for the help and advice.

ParticipantAnother update.
The grill is working fine, but the oven doesn’t seem to be getting up to heat (or at least enough for the temperature indicator light to go off)
Everything was a like for like swap, I suppose I might’ve knocked something when replacing some of the parts, but I was very careful. It has a new thermostat, grill element and function switch. I did try replacing the oven element but after it didn’t fix the issue I put the old one back in and returned the new one.. -
