Problem with damper (probably) on Hotpoint/Whirlpool fridge

Hi. I have a Hotpoint Ariston 4D AAB/HA Quadrio fridge. (very similar model is now made by Whirlpool). It s 10 years old, recently I found out, that the compressor is almost always on, the consumption is very hi, the freezer is at -30 celsius and the fridge is above 5 celsius. I removed the damper, that was opening/closing all the time, like he cannot find a position. I ordered a new one, installed, the consumption went down and the fridge and freezer seemed to work ok for approx. 10 days. Now the consumption went up again and it seems (by the sound), that the damper is opening and closing again.
Any recomendations?
