    Hi,

My WA110 washing machine has started making a harsh noise when spinning with a full load. It sounds like the whole drum is going to leave its mountings. I have checked the dampers and springs – all seems ok. The balancing cement blocks are tightly attached with no movement. I have checked for drum movement (bearing play) but can’t detect any.

Any ideas as to the cause.

with the door open and machine empty, hold the drum on the edge nearest the door and try to push it upwards. Is there play in the rotating drum relative to the outer drum?If there is, then the drum bearing is on its way out. This can also cause the machine to do the 3 minute waltz across the kitchen floor !! 😯

If you are certain about the bearings and the rest, I would suspect the drum support. Turn the drum until each drum paddle is at six o’clock, then try and pull it towards you. If any one of them move towards you the drum support will be broken. I would still suspect the bearings though.

Spin the drum by hand and if it makes a noise I think the bearings may be the culprit 🙁

If you need a diagnostic from an engineer, repairs@ should be able to provide one 😀

If you’re going to have a look yourself, plug out please :plug:

Thank you all very much for replying. Took all the advice and it turns out that the bottom lump of concrete had an ever-so-slight movement. After tightening the 3 bolts, no more waltzing washing machine.

    Kind regards,
    Matthew
