ParticipantRecently our AEG heat pump dryer stopped collecting water in the tank. Clothes appear to still be drying, but the cycle sometimes struggles to finish, particularly when heavy items like towels are in there.
So far:
I have established that water can get from the front of the machine to the pumping chamber
I have checked that the water pump still works by filling that chamber up and running a cycle. The water gets pumped to the tank
I have checked that the dryer still gets hot, it does
Having searched for similar issues on this site, I took one poster’s advice and sprayed a pressure washer through the filter at the bottom of the machine. Quite a lot of fluff came out the back but no improvement, no water still reaches the tank
I took the panels off to see if I could reach the filters at the bottom (the condenser?) but it looks like a nightmare to reachI think probably the problem is that the steam generated by the drying isn’t getting cooled to form water and is probably gradually seeping out of the machine, which means poor performance and damp issues in our utility unless I solve this asap.
Any help would be much appreciated

Moderatoryou sort of answered it yourself
if the clothes are still drying then the moisture is going somewhere. if its not condensing into water it must be escaping into the room.
since this is a heat pump dryer have you checked the condensor is getting cold in use ?

ParticipantThe condenser is that filter type thing at the bottom right? I haven’t tried touching it mid cycle, but seems obvious, if that isn’t getting cold then the moisture doesn’t turn to liquid. I take it that the most likely fix is a new condenser?

nope
its a sealed refrigeration system. I cant see the condensor itself being faulty and its more likely to be a refigeration fault like gas or compressor
which will be very costly
but we are assuming it does not work so you need to find outDave

Moderatorjust looked up the complete base with compressor £278
https://shop.electrolux.co.uk/c/basement-with-compressor-hp-a-50-di/p/1364470714the compressor is available at £140 ish but you need a refrigeration engineer to braze it in, then vacuum the system and recharge with gas
so lets hope yours is ok

ParticipantCrikey, not ideal. Sounds like whatever it is has reached beyond the extent of what I can do. I have an appliance guy coming later this week so will leave it to him.
thanks for the help
