ParticipantAlmost 7 years old.
No error code.
There was one the first time I switched it on, but not any more.
Pretty sure it was F11 or F12 but don’t hold me to that.It drains fine. I have watched the water come out.
Cleaned the trap just in case.
Checked that the machine is nearly empty after hear it draining. It is.
Cleaned everything, no sign of any debris in the non return valve. Cleaned everything anyway.
Checked the inlet filter. No debris at all.Drains fine. No flashing light.
Does short fills. On the first one, the tap/drain light comes on.
Then flashes while filling. For about a dozen fills.
Then it reverses and flashes when not filling and solid when filling.
After about twenty fills, it drains and repeats. Thanks for reading.

Moderatorthe water is counted in by a reed sw mounted on the left i think
if the timer cant see pulses from this but has turned the valve on it will fault out
f12 is a water inlet fault
Dave
flowmeter part no 5544031 £33 from miele
cant promise it will cure it but sounds likely

ParticipantBrilliant, thanks loads.
Is it still likely to be that if I am not getting a fault code?
It just keeps doing it now.I take it there is no way to test it?
May 2, 2022 at 5:51 pm #482212electrofix
Moderatori would expect a fault code
its a reed switch and inside the plastic is a spinning magnet. every time the magnet passes it closes the switch. you can connect a milti meter to it, after you disconnect it and use the buzz setting to see if your getting an output
could also be damaged cables from it. had mice eat one of the cables once
i tend to buy the reed switches and solder them in if I can get the small pcb’s out

ParticipantWonderful, thanks loads.
I fiddled about with it, got a lightly magnetised screwdriver and the wheel spun really freely.
Went to test continuity (didn’t really know what i was doing yet) plugged it all back in and started it up.
Seems like it is working now. I shall give it a full cycle in the morning.Couple of questions if you don’t mind.
Does it always make that fast bleeping sound and i just don’t hear it with the side panel on?
Secondly, I don’t know how the water is meant to flow, but it kind of looks like it is overflowing at the top.
Not all going via the impeller (if that is what it is called) but going down the side.
Looks brown and grungy.
Should it look like this?
Looks a bit brown and gungy.

Moderatorgungy is the water softner its normal
if the water did not go through turbine it would fault out

ParticipantGreat, thanks loads.
Yes, it mostly goes through the turbine, but sort of overflows at the top and dribbles down through the brown bit.Anyway, thanks to your help, it has done a full cycle this morning.
All seems good.May 8, 2023 at 10:26 am #482216Grarea
ParticipantI thought I would update this as the same thing happened again this year.
Although I think it was an F13 fault.
Not entirely sure what was happening, I couldn’t see if the water was flowing past or if the turbine was turning.
But, I know for sure that i couldn’t hear it.
So, I pulled off the connector, fiddled generally. No difference.
Got a magnet and the turbine spun fine and i heard the switch activating.
So, it seems like the magnet frees up either the switch or the wheel.
Do you have a best guess as to whether it is the switch or the wheel that is freeing up? I kind of assume it is the switch as it is clean water.Having looked at the board online and I see you said that you solder in the reed switch, are they easy to order?
I am thinking I might just have one of those on hand as I imagine they won’t be too much money. Thanks again for your help.

Moderatoryes you can solder in a new reed sw. done it many times

ParticipantThank you Dave.
How do I go about finding the right reed switch please? I imagine you keep a bunch of them and rummage.
I have tried ‘reed’ing up on them, but there are a few eh?
I am assuming it is a Normally Open type looking at the images.
I can’t work out how to find the other specs. Is there a standard ‘Dishwasher’ reed switch?May 8, 2023 at 12:47 pm #482219electrofix
Moderatorto be honest its not that hard
you have to find a normally open one about the right size.
I keep one type in stock and its one from rs components and i pickede it purely on whether it fitted in the space

ParticipantOK, sweet, so the specs are not critical like many other electronic components, thanks loads.
