Looking for some advice – have got a Beko DRVS62 tumble drier – had it about 10 years and it’s been pretty good all round.

Recently it’s started making a ‘squeaking’ or ‘squealing’ noise when in use – I did think it may have got overloaded with heavy towels or bedding, but it’s doing it with lighter loads now as well.

I’m guessing belt or bearings likely to be worn – is that a reasonable place to look ? And if I were to service the machine replacing the belt and bearings is there anything else which should be replaced at the same time.

Functionally the machines still good, dries well etc, so not ready for replacement, simply a good service after 10 years use.

It seems to be when it’s been on a while and has got warm. Yesterday it started after about 5 minutes. If left to fully cool and then restarted it didn’t seem to make it initially and then it started.

The noise is a squeaking type noise. When you stop the dryer and try moving the drum by hand it also makes it for part of a turn and then not – again only when warm.

take the lid off and look for marks on the drum in case its catching somwhere

was thinking it may be the pump but would not make the sound turning drum by hand

I’ll start by doing that – the fact the squeaking was when it’s going round had lead me in the direction of either bearings and / or belt. Given it’s 10 years old and has been well used, I’d suspected the belt may be getting tired, particularly as the machine has been well loaded on some occasions.
