    The oven has been in the same place since it was first installed.

    Yesterday I turned the top oven on and a few seconds later the
    main RCD for the whole house tripped.

    I reset the RCD and it hasn’t tripped since.

    However, the top oven will not heat beyond 150 deg no matter how long I leave it.
    The oven indicator light stays on and will only go out when I turn the heat back down to 150 deg.

    The grill and main fan oven work fine.

    I’m thinking it’s the heating coil but could it somehow be the control knob?

    there will be 2 elements in the top oven

    one at the top and another under the floor
    make sure both get hot, my guess is one of them has failed

    Just checked again and it’s the lower heating element that’s gone.
    It didn’t cross my mind that there would be two elements, I thought the top elements were grill only.
