I have a Hotpoint chest freezer where, at the bottom front, there is a panel of 3 lights (power led, running led and alarm) as well as the thermostat knob. While the alarm light works, neither the power led or the running led lights have ever lit up. I assume that, at some point, they are supposed to. ??? I cannot figure out how to remove the front panel in order to check the bulbs. On the side of the freezer, at the bottom, somewhat behind where these bulbs are, is the panel for the motor. Is this what I’m supposed to remove to check the bulbs, or is there an easier way to do this? I’ve searched and searched on the internet, but thus far haven’t found any solution…..????
since the lights are simple neon they will have failed. as you realise it wont stop it working

The small panel on my freezer has three lights….green, blue and amber, representing ‘power, running, and alarm’ respectively. The amber light works (fortunately) as it went on when the power to the socket it was plugged into, went out. (By the way, the same circuit as my washing machine…lol. Fortunately, my washing machine repair was not the cause….whew!!). The green and blue lights don’t work, nor does my ‘owners manual’ advise me if either of them are meant to be on at any time. I kind of assume that perhaps power and/or running should be on. I want to see if there are bulbs in the panel at all, or if they are burned out and need to be replaced. I found a video that indicates ‘prying’ the panel off wit a putty knife, but I don’t know if this is specific to my machine, as there is also a dial on the panel, that turns the freezer on and off, as well as sets how cold you want the freezer to run. Do you have any idea how that panel is meant to be removed?? I have not tried just pulling off the dial (like you would pull off the dial on the washing machine), and I don’t want to break this while attempting my ‘repair’…..???

on light is power but you know it works so it must be one
the other light is a running lamp, it just tells you when the compressor is on. do you really need to know when its on as long as the temp is correct
what i am saying is its working without these lights so why try to fix what aint broke

They do appear to be LEDs from the description on Hotpoint’s site , but as Dave has said above the two that aren’t working don’t affect the functionality so I too would leave it alone.
Must say I’m surprised that the alarm light came on when the socket power failed as that’s certainly not usual.
