I have an old AEG Lavamat 16830 Washer dryer which has served me well for a number of years (with various bits needing replacing as you’d expect!).

It has recently started making a whining noise on drying cycles, the noise is very noticeably different from the usual sound whilst drying. When drying on sensor dry it has also started dropping to 0 minutes from perhaps halfway through a cycle with an hour or so left on the timer. The machine does heat the clothes (not sure if less hot than normal, haven’t really checked) but it takes a couple of cycles at least to dry them.

I wondered if it may be the fan motor given the noise. I’ve yet to take it apart to have a proper look as it’s in use every day as a washing machine and the dryer is less used; I was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction so I can do some quick checks / order parts etc!

    Thanks,

    David

i have had a few where the dryer fan unit bearing go and make a noise. This noise happens when its drying and often on the last rinse as it fills

    poss part is

Thanks, I’ll have a look at that. Any ideas if an issue with the fan bearing / motor would cut short the programme?

unless fan is jamming it should not shorten the programme but it could be blockages in the dryer ducts
