    Hello,

This washing machine is only a few months old and recently makes a loud squeaking noise when starting (for a few minutes). It also does this at the end of the program as the drum slows down to a stop.

I’ve taken the belt off and it still makes this noise, I’ve removed the seal and it still makes this sound and I wonder if something is stuck inside the drum or there’s another rubber seal that’s rubbing against the drum. It sounds almost like styrofoam but I can’t see anything underneath or around the tub.

Example of what is sounds like https://photos.app.goo.gl/BhNinQcyyQVw6MHK9

    Thanks,

    Edit: not fixed, still squeaks

if its only a few months old why are you touching it as you could void the warranty

ring hoover and tell them to sort it

I think its the drum bearing water seal and with no lubrication it will fail probably just outside the warranty

If you have taken the belt off surely that means it’s the motor as the drum will not move without belt on as dave said ring hoover

Hi, I did contact Hoover, who linked me to this https://service.hoover.co.uk/advice-centre/the-machine-seems-noisy/
The noise comes from the drum not the motor (I did explain this to them) also they said if they came out and found something in the drum they would charge me £140 (hence why I removed the rubber seal and put it back on and I don’t exactly have £140 to spare).

It only seems to make the noise at the start of a wash and at the very end and even then, it’s not constant but I can’t see anything in the sides of the drum.

they have to say that as some of the stupid things i have pulled out of drums over the years and the warranty does not cover misuse
