I am a simple man and really have only a few needs: american size (90cm wide, 74 deep, 1700ish tall) fridge + freezer
    – Net usable space maximised – 600+ seems possible
    – External ice dispenser. I drink water a lot and use ice a lot. Seems worth it. Not quite a dealbreaker

Anyone here a ‘repairman’ who supports both (say) Beko as well as LG+Samsung? Is Beko and especially Liebherr still much better than Samsung? What if the ice maker breaks, are they finally somewhat easy to replace?

    Case in point:
Samsung RS67A8810S9 – 634 litre capacity, external ice maker. 5 year warranty, 1000 quid. (1790x913x735)
    Beko ASP34B32V – 571 litre, external ice maker. 1 year warranty, 1000 quid.(1790x910x705)

Liebherr, Miele, Fisher Paykel, none have external ice makers, as said, not quite a dealbreaker but I’m not sure if they are worth it. Other than not 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} dying, what typically goes wrong with the cheaper devices?

We had a Beko but since our recent kitchen refurb our son has it now. It does not have ice / water, the mechanism does take up valuable storage room. In the budget range Beko are as good as anything out there, the Liebherr is about as good as it gets and F & P good quality but Liebherr gets my vote, (they also produce Miele refrigeration).

While no one can predict what can go wrong with an appliance water and ice units do seem to fail quite regularly.

For some reason the ice dispenser really is a dealbreaker (in the sense that none of the upperclass brands have them).
Frankly the 5y warranty of Samsung seems somewhat attractive. It shows a decent confidence in the product.

Personally I would qudestion what has been sacrificed in the product to get the ice and water in at the price unless you are going to spen 2k plus. We stopped selling Samsung products a few years ago as the spares and service was very slow, I don’t know if things have improved since then though.
