    Can anyone tell me how to remove the thermostat cover on a whirlpool prima LPR273 fridge freezer please?? The problem is that the freezer seems to be working fine but the fridge temp fluctuates between 3 and 9 degrees C. When it works, it freezes the water droplets on the back wall of the fridge but it doesn’t come on again even when the water has thawed and the temp has gone up to 9 or 10?? Any ideas on what the problem might be?

    looks like an old style hydraulic stat. these are meant to come on at plus 2 degrees but it can creep up with age

    prob just needs a new stat but can never be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}

    Many thanks Dave! I’ve finally managed to get the cover off…..what a job! I’m gonna pull the fridge out today (It’s integrated) and look for any other potential faults. Could you possibly talk me through testing the stat with a multimeter??

    I put a thermometer in the freezer compartment last night. Showing -21 degrees C. The fridge is at 3 degrees just now but doesn’t last at that temp for long. It will creep up to 9 or 10 before the fridge kicks on again.

    Its got to be the stat, try not to complicate things

    try
    watch temp and wait till it starts to climb. then give the stat a jolt with the handle of a screwdriver or something. chances are it will come back on and get cold again. if yes change stat

    These thermostats are actually adjustable to make the fridge colder or hotter! Just by turning one screw. Fridge is running perfectly now.
