    Hi all!

I have an elderly but very lightly used ZDE57140W vented tumble dryer with sensor dry (according to the front of the machine and the manual).

Unfortunately the drying sensor no longer seems to switch off the dryer when clothes are dry like it used to do, so as an experiment I added totally dry clothes, which it should sense and then automatically switch off but it continues to run.

I have no idea what type of sensor is fitted to this machine but I had assumed it to be a moisture sensor like most other machines.

The manual makes several references to automatic drying, probes in the drum and even gives instructions on how to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor, so I know it has a sensor of sorts. Unfortunately the manual does not make reference to the exact location of the probes/sensors for cleaning purposes.

The manual does mention cleaning the drum with vinegar to remove any varnish left from laundry products, which I know can coat the probes and stop them working, which I’m hoping is the issue after 15 years of use.

I have taken a look on the parts diagram for this machine and it doesn’t show any type of probe in the parts list for the drum or any reference to a moisture/humidity sensor/probe but it does show a single NTC temperature probe near the front, right of the machine.

The manual makes reference to multiples of drum located probes, which I assumed would be moisture sensors but could this single NTC temperature probe be what I’m actually looking for?

    All help much appreciated.

    Cheers

the drum on this model is electrically split front and rear

there is a brush in the rear by the rear bearing and another running on the front of the drum. check the one at the front is making good contact as well as the one at the rear.
also check the front and rear of the drums are electrically isolated
