Our ISE2 AWE23 washing machine has just started giving us Error code E21.
This happens whenever the dial is turned to any of the washing functions and the programme commences. It gets as far as filling the machine up with water (roughly a minute into which ever programme) then flashes up E21.
The standalone drain function works.
The standalone spin function doesn’t – it comes up with the same error.
Could someone advise where I need to check first to clear this problem?

E21 is a motor fault, could well be worn motor brushes. Very easy to access on this machine. Unplug, tilt machine back against a wall and remove the large bottom plinth ( a screw either side) .

The brushes can be changed without even removing the motor.
Thanks for the quick reply. Yes front came off easy and the brushes are right there. I’ll get them ordered and the cleaning stick too. Hopefully this is the problem sorted 🙂

Did you check the condition of the brushes? Take a good look at the replacement brushes to make certain the end of each carbon brush has the correct angle, match them up with the displaced ones.
Thanks for your help. The replacement carbon brushes and commutator cleaner arrived.
The machine has now completed it’s fourth load so I’d say it’s back in business 🙂
