Hi all. The internal lamp is flickering on and off these past two days. There doesn’t appear to be a switch that activates it when the door opens, and I don’t understand how it senses to come on, so I can’t tell if it is an activation problem or something to do with the lamp unit itself. I saw a You Tube video where the author said that to take it out the lamp unit has to be slid to the left, then carefully prised out to free the small plastic clips. Mine doesn’t want to be slid at all. The manual states: “Your appliance features a maintenance-free LED light. These lights may be repaired by customer service or authorised technicians only.” BTW, my Siemen’s 5 year cover expires on 9 Dec, which is next Friday.

Hope you can help with advice. Thanks.

the lights on a lot of fridges are controlled be a small magnetic switch called a reed switch

either the magnetism from the door seal or a small bar magnet mounted in the door activates the switch when it gets close to it

at a guess i would say this switch is around the control panel area which is a convenient place to site it

if your guarentee is parts and labour just ring them as the light should not flash

also if i am correct the model number you have listed is wrong and the “W” should be “V V”

Thanks Dave. You’re right, the model is E-NR KG33VV131G/07 with FD 9708. The lamp has now stopped flickering, and is just showing a very low level of light. I have contacted http://www.siemens-home.bsh-group.com to request an engineer visit. Cheers.
