    Hi all,

My Smeg dishwasher started making a loud buzzing noise from the circulation pump, which i think means it’s knackered. The PCB looks fine, the bearings look ok and there is nothing appearing to jam it. However, whenever it gets to the spraying bit of the cycle you hear a loud buzzing from the motor.

    Its a
    SMEG DF13SS
    Full S/N 149164 50626 0061 03 00
    Type:10059

and it has an Askoll Pump
    Mod.M261
    Art. 295171

I am looking for a replacement part.
However, the Askoll pump looks like its discontinued.
All i can find are newer pumps which don’t look the same.

The new pumps just look like pumps without the electronics in the rear of the Askoll.

So i am wondering if they are a direct swap or whether an additional device is needed to replace the electronics in the back of the Askoll.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Adrian

there are 2 motors listed for this model depending on variant

if yes its obsolete and you have to replace about 7 or 8 parts inc new heater assy

That isn’t my pump, which I think is a good thing..

The third picture on the link is my pump, but the first two picture look like the new pump.

forget what it looks like apart from mounting electrical connections and hose connections

that pump is a much better construction and more electrically robust

    That sounds like great news.

    Really appreciate the info.

Does this mean it’s just a straight swap, nothing else required to make it work?

    look likely

assume you only have 2 wires to the old motor

hose connections look like thay might well be the same

does the mounting look right ?

Live and neutral to the pump.
the some control wires, three of them on a little plug.

Hoses connections look roughly in the correct orientation.

The mounting looks OK, the old one is a couple of rubber rings that clip over a t-bar.

    ok
with a bit more digging around and this is a lot more complicated. what worried me is the extra 3 wires which sounds llike a digital cotrol cable

I think the motor you may need is 795211441

    but i cant be certain

if you look up your model here

    http://www.servevastdirect.co.uk

its saying both motor not available and no alternatives

you could contact them and ask as they are main smeg agents

    Hi dave,

    Really appreciate it.

on the back of the askoll is a complete pcb, much more than you would expect on a standard pump.

very much appreciate that servast are main agents, I will contact them and see what they have to say..

Its sounding like this maybe expensive scrap.

I’m not sure it sensible to spend 250 quid on a 7 year old dishwasher, despite otherwise being absolutely fine.

Any suggestions on a good brand, distinctly gone of smeg.

It’s been pretty reliable except for this. It just seems crackers that you can’t get a pump for what is otherwise a perfectly functioning dishwasher. I think for something that is only 7 years old thats pretty rubbish.

I would have thought that there was some law making you have spares for 10 years or something..

If you are wanting stainless steel again then take a look at this lot on AO.

I am a great admirer of Bosch and Siemens, but Whirlpool, Beko and AEG are all worth considering.
