Hi all,
I have a Daewoo DRS30SMI fridge/freezer that stopped working on 31 December 2022. I have checked, and an appliance engineer has confirmed that it has power all the way up to the control board. However, all the lights and electronics are off, and the compressor does not run.
After doing a lot of digging online, it seems that the most likely culprit is the control board itself and on closer inspection, that appears to be the case. I found an IC that had blown (TOP244YN) which is an offline switcher that regulates the board’s voltage/current. I purchased and replaced the faulty IC only to have the new one blow as soon as power was turned on. This leads me to conclude that I had either identified the incorrect IC part number (replacing it with one that was not compatible) or there was something else wrong with the board that caused the IC to blow in the first place.
Does anyone have any suggestions about what the next steps might be (apart from replacing the fridge/freezer, which I’m trying to avoid due to cost)? It seems that Daewoo has discontinued all of the electronic components for this model, and I’m not able to find anything on eBay either. From what I can see, many of the parts are produced by Samsung, but I’m at a bit of a loss as to what ‘compatible’ part I might be able to use.
Model: Daewoo DRS30SMI
Control board: SBS C600 Basic Inverter
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Cord
