ParticipantHi, I’ve got pretty much the same problem as andygod has posted on 14th June.
Our dishwasher had been started last night but was still running this morning some 10 hours later.
I’ve checked the sump – it had hardly any debris in there.
I’ve pulled out the black rubber no return valve – this did not look like it needed cleaning. I’ve tried a reset with and without it – water did not clear.
I’ve had a good feel around and also tried ‘dyno rodding’ the holes in the sump with a flexible spring – nothing came out.
I’ve tried resetting the diswasher and although the display shows “.0.”
the water does not drain.I’ve tried this with either closing the detergent door and with it open.
My conclusion would be that I might have a bust PCB/processor board.
Could anyone please confirm this or suggest anything else I could do.
BTW I purchased this in 2000 so from one of the other posts I guess mine is one of the early boards.

Sounds like it is the pcb…usual fault is dry joints on the heater relay. This is a simple and inexpensive repair, if you need an engineer then have a look in Repairs@

Well – I’ve got me soldering iron handy.
Any tips for getting at the board?

The board is situated in the top of the door….if you don’t feel you can work it from that then you will need a qualified engineer…there are some very sharp edges exposed when working on dishwashers so fear of lawsuits prevents any further information coming from me.
If you decide to have a go then you must unplug the appliance before doing anything else. :zap:June 16, 2005 at 5:46 pm #138639Radar

Yes unplug is definitely understood. I Still remember the belt I got from a valve radio almost 30 years ago. 🙄
As for the rest – I’m game – so thanks for the quick reply and advice.

Will do.
Thanks

I think you are right – There’s a burn mark slap bang in the middle of the pcb. I’d post a picture of if I knew how.

If it’s a burnt joint at the corner terminal of the relay just hard wire it to the spade terminal at the end of the track and away it’ll all go again.

Humm, Did the repair and now the water is heating when it definitely was not before.
However the reset does not force out the water.
Other pointers that there may be more wrong is the display “.0.” that is it has a dot preceding the zero.
Also the LED display itself is dropping one of the segments – although this is intermittent.
Some one else mentioned a darlington transistor – Could this be faulty?
I’ve put the board back now but is this one of the potted components next to the relay? If the consensus is that the board is kaput any ideas where I might source a new board? seen somewhere else that the board is £97 – but I’d be reluctant to try this on a five year old dishwasher

As per the parallel thread, you could contact http://www.emwelec.co.uk or http://www.qer.biz with regard to reconditioned boards. I don’t know what their pricing is like to the public, but it will certainly be less than the brand new item. They will identify the board by the numbers on it BTW, not the model of the appliance.
