ParticipantMy machine is waiting almost a month for a repair from D & G and I am pressing for them to replace it because I am very fed up.
If they don’t, I am quite possibly going to get rid of it and replace it myself because I hated this machine.I am tempted to pay for a Miele (I never bought my Zanussi; it was a “free gift” in my new build home-absolutely useless piece of crap) and I am determined to get a machine that washes well and is reliable. My Mum swears by Miele, her machine is 17 years old and going strong. My aunt just told me her 25 year old Miele broke down this week but a local repairman repaired it for £50. Now I know that the machines these days are nowhere near as good as the Miele’s of old, judging by their measly 2 year guarantees. The question is if its worth buying a Miele anyway?
My list of requirements is not long; I want a machine that washes well (the Zanussi was terrible at stains), loads shouldn’t take too long (the 60degree wash on my Zanussi is 4 hours) and no Wifi or any other such nonsense. We’re a family of 6 and do quite a fair amount of laundry per week- probably 6 or 7 loads so i want something sturdy and reliable.
I would appreciate your opinions because I don’t want to waste my money but am happy to spend on something reliable.

ModeratorYes the Miele machines are good and are still the best in the domestic sector. They do from time to time offer promotional guarantees of 5 and 10 years depending on model. The current promotion which ends tomorrow is a cash back on selected models. It may pay you to take a look at the promotions page at the weekend.
For all of Miele good things there are some drawbacks like they don’t currently share any tech info with the indepenednt sector and the price of spares can be a lot more expensive. A longer guarantee could be the answer in some cases.
On balance the build, ease of use and engineered parts more than make up for the downsides. Would I have a Miele? Yes I would if I could afford one.Don

KeymasterDo be aware of this practise however:

And I have heard of many people waiting two weeks or more for a visit if they need one.
Miele, great… until they break.

ParticipantThanks so much for the response don I’m glad to hear you would still recommend a Miele
kwatt thanks for sharing that article, gosh that is scandalous! I need to decide what to do but I think I am definitely still tempted to go with a Miele.
