ParticipantHi all,
I have a Zanussi ZOB 551x cooker that I just replaced the grill element for, and now the fan won’t stop running whenever mains power is on. I’m struggling to see what the connection is here unless the thermostat is somehow now receiving bad info. As far as I can see, I didn’t noticeably damage anything, and disconnecting everything to do with the installation of the new element has not solved the problem either. The cooker runs fine itself, but the fan never shuts off.

I’m not flush with cash right now, so getting an engineer in is a last resort. Anyone experienced similar issues? What could I look into next? Any advice appreciated!

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply.
The PNC is 949712893-04, and here’s a photo of the information plate in case anything else is useful: https://imgur.com/KazHS43
I believe I connected things back up ok – here’s the photo I took before removing the old element for comparison: https://imgur.com/XkamcZs . The only thing different is that the new element doesn’t have a middle terminal for the earth wire, but the crimp ring also on that same wire I left in place on the left hand bolt.

Moderatorok from what i can see the wiring is ok
first thing to try
the thermostat to the right of element on the pics. Disconnect one wire and tape it up to stop shorting error
then turn on and see if fan runs and let me knowDave

Thanks again. Slight issue when I went to detach the thermostat wire, though. The light-coloured plastic part (https://imgur.com/Y03ejSR) had come free of the metal housing on its own, possible due the clips being bent outwards a little (https://imgur.com/arwQKOv). Also, I believe two objects dropped out of it, though I didn’t see them actually do so – a thin silver disc (a contact of some kind?) and something that looks a little like a transistor (https://imgur.com/7ZBPCyE). Any idea what I should do with those, if they are part of it?

Yeah, looks like it. I didn’t even get to the stage of removing the wire before it fell apart in my hands! Possibly may have weakened it when removing it to replace the previous element.
Anyhow, I removed the black wire, and the fan has stopped running. Something beyond a new thermostat, you think?
Cheers,
