I have a hotpoint tdc62 tumble dryer which does not get warm.

In the back of the dryer there are what I assume to be two sensors. one of these is open circuit. Is this the fault or am I looking in the wrong place?

    will be what you want.

    Points (once again……..)
    1) Door filter to be kept clean
    2) Door channel to be kept clean
    3) Condenser matrix (big aluminium thing in the bottom) to be kept clean.
    4) DO NOT open the door half way through to see how they’re doing – safety stat will trip every time. Set the dryer to the last 10 minutes (heat off) and just wait a minute before popping the door.

Re: Hotpoint tumble dryer not heating

I’ve put a new set of stats in and that has made no difference.

After fitting the stat I put it on with just a small load but it didn’t dry.
I didn’t check if it got hot at all during the cycle.

I didn’t check the stat with the green dot before I fitted it but its now open circuit.

I tested it with the new non dotted stat instead of the green stat and it gets warm quickly.

    So what next?

You have to be very careful how you handle the green spot stat. Its base should be convex, if it is depressed either by tripping due to overheating or careless handling it will be O/C and it is then useless. It would be very unlikely to have tripped in such a short space of time so I would suspect that you have accidentally pressed in the base of the green spot stat. If you press the other stat it will spring back out. This is the temp controller. The green spot is the safety cut out and will not reset.

NB. Do not run it with the other stat, you have no overheat protection if you do.
