ParticipantI have a Samsung MG23K3575AK microwave – 6 months out of guarantee. The digital display for the clock/timer is not showing in full – for example “18.00” is showing as “16.00”. The top right section of the second digit is not lighting up.
Obviously it isn`t stopping me using the microwave but it is inconvenient if I want to set the time to cook food for longer time periods.
Any ideas? I don`t feel it is serious enough to merit the cost of a visit from an engineer .January 20, 2023 at 5:37 pm #485468electrofix
Moderatorwell since most mocrowave are powered by a single board its likely it needs replacing

Moderatorlook into the consumer rights act
https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-rights-act-aKJYx8n5KiSl
an appliance of this type would be expected to last longer than 14 months and could be descibed as “not of merchantable quality or not fir for purpose”
your claim would be against the retailer where it was bought

Thanks – I hadn`t thought of that. It came from AO so I will look for contact details for them

ParticipantUPDATE – just as I was about to contact AO quoting the Consumer Rights Act the fault corrected itself!
I now believe it happened because I had started to switch off the microwave at the mains between uses in an effort to save a bit of power – as encouraged by the government! Now that I have reverted to leaving it on all the time the display has gradually returned to how it should be.I wonder how many more people will have similar problems if appliances are constantly being switched off and on again
