Hi, I wondered whether anyone can help, after a power cut on Monday, where the whole of the street lost power, the light in my Bosch fridge freezer (bought 2017) no longer comes on when the door is opened but comes on when the door is closed. I have removed the bulb as it was getting quite warm. Although not an engineer I suspect the control panel has been affected during the cut. At the time of the power outage the electricity was ‘flickering’ on and off rapidly over a period of about ~10 to 15 minutes.
As the fridge is working and have been quoted £106 +parts for the callout, is it worth getting this fixed or just putting up with the lack of light?

    Many thanks

Is it fully on with the door closed or only dimly lit, as if dimly lit that may be correct depending on the ambient temperature in the room (as per this post). Doesn’t explain why it doesn’t come on when the door is open though.

    Hi tubafan,
    Thanks for you response 🙂

The fridge does have the facility to warm when the ambient temp outwith the fridge is low but fortunately my kitchen isn’t that cold. There is a switch/lever which is moved when the door is closed; on moving that ‘in’ (door closed) the light comes on and moving it ‘out’ (the door open) the light goes out.
Fridge was not dimly lit, bulb was very warm as was the plastic surrounding it.

    Cheers
