I have a Bosch Exxcel SGS46E22GB dishwasher that gets stuck with 1 minute left on the display.
The fault finding that I have done so far is as follows:
– The dishwasher empties fine when I hold down the two “reset” buttons, so the drain pump is OK
– The water does not heat up. I ran it for a full cycle with a temperature probe inside and the water never got above ambient temperature (see attached graph)
– The impedance across the heater terminals is reading 23 ohms, which sounds about right to me for a 2kW element (No. 4 in photos)
– There appear to be a couple of sensors built into the water heating element. The one furthest from the water heater terminals (No. 1 in the photo) is reading closed circuit (0.2 ohms) and the closer one is reading 61k ohm (No. 2).
– There is a microswitch (??) between the heater terminals (No. 3 in photo) which is reading open circuit.See photos here:

– Any ideas on what might be causing the fault or further tests that I can carry out?
– Is it worth trying to repair the unit given that it has provided us with over 15 years of trouble free service since we purchased it in 2007.Any help and advice very gratefully received!

try
start machine and wait till its full and starting washing
then open door and add a kette full of cold waterclose door and see if it heats
What i am thinking is it not getting enough water to operate the heater safety pressure sw. can be caused by blockages in the fill circuits on the left of the machine
other poss fault are motor blockage or damaged motor impellor
are you getting plenty of water flying round inside when its washing ?

Thanks for your reply and suggestions.
I’ve tried adding a kettle full of cold water but still no joy. As far as I can see, there was already plenty of water in the machine and it the spray arms were happily sending it flying round the machine. Here’s a quick video of it *before* I added the kettle full of cold water.

Is the heater safety pressure switch part of the water heater assembly?Tim
P.S. Thanks for deleting the other post. I’ve also got a faulty (20 year old) Hoover tumble dryer at the moment, so was getting confused 🙂Thanks, Dave. I’ll have a go at re-soldering the heater relay at some point this week and let you know if that fixes the problem.
TimHi Dave, Finally got around to looking at this. I’m pleased to say that your suggestion was spot on. There was a very obvious dry joint on the heater relay so a nice easy fix (see photo). The dishwasher is now working perfectly and I’m looking forward to another 15 years trouble free service!!
