    Dear All,

I would be grateful for some help please.

Our Candy fridge freezer today completely stopped working…The checks l made are as follows:

The bulb light in the top section (fridge compartment) comes on, but 1 out of 8 times for approx less than a second

No noise coming from the fridge at all once switched on

checked voltage at mains input, seems very low

The device l think is faulty is the one that actually switches the fridge on, is this the relay or transformer? This is like a socket, having 3 inlets…all the cables run to this device…it is attached to the main device, l not sure what it is..but slots into this via 3 pins.

I am right in thinking that the transformer has blown? Due to it not having enough voltage to drive the light bulb in the fridge compartment?

If so, where can l get one from? The cost including P&P would be appreciated

    Or l am completely wrong?

any help would be gratefully received

    many thanks,
    Charlie

You say the mains voltage seems pretty low at the input…if the mains supply voltage coming into the appliance is low then you have a poor connection somewhere in the plug/socket/house wiring.

If on the other hand the voltage is low at the compressor then you most likely have a faulty connection within the appliance.

If you need an engineer the have a look in Repairs@

    thanks for the reply Clive

I have changed the wiring from the plug to the fridge and its still the same.

    Hence, the wiring seems fine.

Any other suggestions before calling an engineer?

    thanks

The most likely cause is the main control PCB in these.

Best get an engineer to be honest to confirm though.

I’m guessing the transformer and relay you refer to are the one’s on the control PCB as there are no other components of this type in the appliance (or shoudn’t be).

    Dave.
