ParticipantHi everyone,
I have a Brandt dishwasher (brandt VH1772J), and recently it stopped working. the “eco” light flashes and it beeps, which the manual says means it detected a leak. I left it for 2 days and it started working again, but after 2 or 3 days of use, I had the same issue again.
Could anyone help me identify and fix the problem. We do have terrible plumbing and sometimes the drain backs up and the pip overflows, but it’s not doing that at the moment (it might have when the issue first started, I don’t know). There’s no other signs of a leak around the dishwasher.
Also, one odd thing. When you turn the dishwasher on, after a few seconds the eco light starts flashing, and then it starts beeping, but sometimes it starts beeping at the same time as the light starts flashing, not slightly afterwards. I don’t know if that’s significant.
Thanks so much

Moderatormost dishwashers have a float in the base where the works are. if waters gets down there it sets of an alarm and runs the pump
you need to get the water out then run it to see if it repeats. if yes you have a leak and you need to find it

ParticipantThanks so much for your reply. Is there any specific way to drain it? Should I just bail water out from the drain pan, via the main dish compartment?

Moderatorthe water is underneath not where the dishes are. you have to remove the covers and mop ity out
or very carefully and slowly tilt the unit back to 45 degrees and the water will flow onto the floorDave

ParticipantThanks again. It has started working again, so I presume it’s a small amount of water that is either leaking our slowly or evaporating. Any tips on how I can locate and repair the source of the leak? I don’t want to run it again until I do because at best I’ll have it our of action agin for a few days, and at worst I’ll cause permanent damage
As I said, the plumbing here sucks, and the drains get air-locked, so sometimes the dishwasher drain pipe overflows. Is it likely to be related to that, or that’s just a coincidence and it’s more likely to be internal?

ParticipantHi again. I removed the plinth and ran the dishwasher. It began leaking pretty heavily straight away, from the back of the dishwasher when the pump engaged, and it kept leaking throughout. additionally, there’s a bead of water at the lowest point of the inlet hose.
Unfortunately, it’s a crappy dishwasher, and the access panel seems to be one solid piece that goes all the way around the dishwasher, with no access panel. Also the installation seems pretty bad, so there;s no real way to pull the dishwasher out, as the hoses etc are too short.
I’d be grateful for any ideas or advice on how I can get in there to identify the cause and fix it.
Unfortunately, I can’t afford to get a repair guy out, even to just have a look
it’s a VH1772J Brandt
Thanks for all the help

Moderatorwell you have to disconnect the hoses and remove it
after removal a lot of units allow the base to be removed from underneath
cant be certain of anything as i dont know the unit but if its leaking a lot your looking for damaged hoses etc
