I have a Hoover AXI AWDPD4138LH1-80 which has been working fine until November last year. It is currently insured with Domestic and General. In November 2022 it started throwing E07 at the end of the wash cycle and the door lock would make several clicking sounds. The Hoover engineer replaced the lock and the issue went away for a while.

In January 2023 the clothes had a repugnant smell as if no detergent or conditoner were being dispended. Over the next 5 engineer visits, the dispenser tray, the outer housing and PCB were replaced. I also increased the water hardness despite using a water softner but it never really solved the issue. The detergent and conditioner trays do get exhausted and we get notifications but the foul odour persists. The filter at the bottom was also cleaned out. The Mrs pours some odour neutraliser in the drum with every cycle to compensate.

Since the end of April the washing machine makes the several clicking sounds with 2 minutes remaning on the clock and then eventually times out with E07. There is a new symptom where the machine needs to be powered off for a minute or so otherwise despite selecting a cycle and pressing play it just sits there and doesn’t run the program.

D&G have offered a number of replacements all of which have lower capacity or a cash settlement so I can buy HD 4149AMC/1-80 directly as it has a 14kg wash and 9kg dryer capacity.

Is the autodosecare dose feature worth it which my current washer dryer does have but the replacement doesn’t or should I look at potentially replacing the autodose module to get rid of the foul odour and replace the door lock to fix E07? I suspect the cause for the return is that the engineer never fully tightened the housing screw so the new dispensing tray was slightly ajar, probbaly enough to allow water to seep internally on the lock mechanism…

I would prefer to fix this machine, even if I have to spend a little money on it (nothing more than a £100 on parts) as it does work well when it works.

not a great lover of Samung either, little or no service backup and expensive parts

will ask our retail expert to chip in

Just concerned about the load sizes in this article here may be of help.

Hoover to Samsung out of the frying pan …………..

The only washer dryer out there that does what it says it will is the Miele and even they have some againsts when it comes to service and spare part prices. But they are still the best.

If that is out of budget which they are for most take a look at the Beko, Zanussi and Bosch.

Are two seperate appliances an option?

Thank you both for your input. I’ve gone through both links shared by Dave regarding autodosing and load sizes. Unfortunately there just isn’t space for two separate appliances and the dryer option doesn’t get used much unless there is bad weather or urgency.

Update: I ran another load last night on the cottons option and it came out smelling freshly laundered, though I did use the aquaplus option.

I’m curious to know what may be causing the door lock to fail and throw E07? For past few weeks, I have had to work around it by powering off from mains so it resets the machine and then start a new cycle. Could it be water ingress or is this part known to fail?

Do you think it’s worth asking Hoover to replace the loom andor lock one last time?

Ran another few loads since, all came out fine. Just the several clicks at the end of a cycle where it stays on 01 minutes remaning for a while and then throws E07. I’m tempted to buy the replacement part DK514 but wanted to know if the problem may lie elsewhere?

The e07 fault is either door lock or wiring, possible motor if it fails pat test or inductor on main control board

its one of those times when you either take a chance and hope a new door lock cures it or give up

Prior to installing the new part, the washing machine has been working perfectly.

I installed the replacement door lock this morning and the E07 is back and needs to be power cycled to start a wash cycle.

Upon running the check within the app it shows 43025472 on the front display followed by E07.

Any idea what that might mean?

I’ve had to power cycle it to get another wash cycle started.

could also be a motor earth fault

I have a volt meter, is this something I can check with the appliance unplugged or best left to a service engineer though without generalising, I’m not impressed with the engineers who have been around to date.

you need an insulation tester a simple multimeter may not be enough but you could try

unplug motor and measure each phase to earth on a high ohm scale

Apologies if I have bored you to death by now. So far, I’ve noticed that if the machine is working it continues to work by starting the cycle and releasing the lock without any errors if it isn’t power cycled. If the error does occurr, then power cycling gets it going again. I still do sometimes get the several clicks but the door does release on other occcassions it just opens after a couple of clicks.

Not sure if that helps in narrowing down where the issue might be. I’ve got an exam I am studing for this week so won’t be able to test the insulation leakage until next week but wanted some more instructions on how to pefrom the testing.

    Update:
Hoover engineer came around on Friday and after attaching a digital multimeter of some sort to the earth and live terminals on the washing machine plug he replaced the door lock switch, the auto dosing and another module found in the rear of the machine. Sadly, the E07 is still there?

At this point the only thing I can think for the intermittent issue with E07 or program not starting might be the wiring loom? Thoughts?
