When I was a student, turning on my microwave literally was one button press. You pressed the dial and away it went at max power, and you could alter total microwaving time while it was already running.
My current neff combi microwave/oven:
1 – Press the selection dial so it gets pressed in (does nothing, but you have to do it)
2 – Press the selection dial again (dial pops out, power light comes on)
3 – Press 1000W button
4 – Press start
A more recent neff – 8 actions (presses and swipes on a touch screen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcNJ1_sWyUs
Siemens – basically same idea. Tons of presses and swipes and dial twists needed
Miele – same.
And all of this not to mention that touch screens are rarely perfect, so I expect frustration when the commands get missed and you have to try again or doubletap or..
Are there any brands with semi-competent interface designers?
Which brand do you have that turns on with 1-3 easy actions? I’d be fine with a microwave-only (rather than ‘combi’) but they are rare.
