When I was a student, turning on my microwave literally was one button press. You pressed the dial and away it went at max power, and you could alter total microwaving time while it was already running.
My current neff combi microwave/oven:
1 – Press the selection dial so it gets pressed in (does nothing, but you have to do it)
2 – Press the selection dial again (dial pops out, power light comes on)
3 – Press 1000W button
4 – Press startA more recent neff – 8 actions (presses and swipes on a touch screen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcNJ1_sWyUs
Siemens – basically same idea. Tons of presses and swipes and dial twists needed
Miele – same.And all of this not to mention that touch screens are rarely perfect, so I expect frustration when the commands get missed and you have to try again or doubletap or..
Are there any brands with semi-competent interface designers?
Which brand do you have that turns on with 1-3 easy actions? I’d be fine with a microwave-only (rather than ‘combi’) but they are rare.
Already an update: it seems Whirlpool has a few ovens that have the “jet start” function that at least cuts the steps down quite a bit. Other brands?
Your thread back in October of last year here asks basically the same question. The Youtube video you refer to is the use of a multi function microwave combi where there are more buttons to press than a standard microwave. Siemens and Bosch will be the same as Neff as they are from tghe same stable.
Sharp have a one minute instant start but they only produce freestanding microwaves but they do produce a build in kit for a couple of top range machines. Panasonic are very similar as Sharp.
It just depends on how many functions you are looking for as that will impinge on how simple it will be to operate.
