Hi, washing machine leaking for a few days now. We thought it was from the recent rain as it’s in the cellar, but I had another look this morning.

The clip to the waste water hose is not doing anything as the plastic teeth have snapped on the clip, and there is a crack in the seal thing around where the pipe goes in.

Underneath the front of the machine, I put my hand under there and it’s damp to the touch. The machine hasn’t been run since we noticed the leak.

So, I was going to call a plumber out. But, how do I know how old my machine is? i’ve looked at various messages here and the serial number isn’t recognised by Hotpoint on their website.

    It’s FML 942 K UK
    I.C 759991567130
    S/N 561841018994
    Type LB2006TRF

It’s not for sale on their website any more. I’m trying to figure out how old it is to see if it’s worth fixing it or getting a plumber in. Also, would I need to get a Hotpoint repairperson, or can a local plumber do it?

And finally, what brand is best? We do washes 1-2 times a week, clothes and bedding and towels only, there are two of us, no kids.

    Thank you.

P.S. if I do get the plumber out, could I get them to fix a) a tap which has come lose (the seal thing underneath the tap has snapped I think), and b) a shower which leaks a lot? Could I just tell them the whole thing when I phone (i.e. is that better than springing it on them)

    There’s an FML942KUK that starts “76” not “75”, that was made 2018-10-24

Would you call out a skilled domestic appliance engineer to fix a leaking tap or a non flushing loo? Why would you call a plumber to fix a washing machine?:(

I’ve called out a domestic engineer – I always assumed this would be a plumber job, it’s my first time doing all this and my partner usually sorts stuff out, but he’s away

Loads more water on the floor this morning 🙁 sick of mopping now, really hope he can get to the bottom of it. I did clean the filter in the hope that that would help, but no dice. Engineer should be here today. I’ve also booked a Hotpoint repair for tomorrow, which I’ll cancel if needs be (much, much more expensive)
