ParticipantHi all, my trusty 2006 Miele PP6 W562 has gone a bit loopy, so I’m after some advice from you experts.
I had the drain and inlet light come on, which has happened one or twice before over the years. I did all the usual, cleaned the filter, checked the waste hose, cleaned some debris from the inlet filter, etc. but still no joy.
I then (probably stupidly) flushed some water through the drum and through the powder drawer, and emptied the filter a few more times, but still no joy.
I tried the usual switching off and re powering, and then tried a press and hold of the start button while powering up. This resulted in the start light flashing quickly, and then when selecting a program, all the lights on the machine going into a sequence. I now cant seem to get the machine out of said sequence, and the machine wont operate!
While searching for advice, I have also taken the top front and side panels off and removed various pipes and bits for cleaning. There was water in the bottom of the cabinet (probably mainly due to my flushing attempts), which i have mopped up and cleaned. I have also cleaned the float switch. The machine is now all back together but the fault light sequence thing still continues.
Does anyone have any idea how to reset the electronics? Or should I just give up and buy a new machine?
Any advice would be much appreciated!July 10, 2023 at 9:19 pm #487524electrofix

ParticipantThanks Dave, that is a possibility, I have had 17 years without any repairs, so I guess I’ve had my moneys worth out of it! The new ones don’t look as well built, and I guess impossible to fix, unless you call Miele out?

ParticipantWhere are the control cards located Dave? Behind the controls at the top, or are there boards in other places?

Moderatorbehind the panel
pull of knob then plastic front slides down about 2 to 3 mm and the top can be gently prised out
after that its screws and wires

ParticipantThanks, I’ll take a look. Do you think water could have got up that high?

Moderatorwell you said you were flushing water through the draw and the board tracks are very flimbsy and close together at the bottom of the board

ParticipantUPDATE!
Well, I was just about to give up and order a new machine from JL, when I thought, I’ll just have one more button pressing session!
I managed to get it into what must be a fault menu? Then by turning the dial to the right within the first three notches, I was getting different numbers, letters and symbols on the display. None of this meant anything to me as I don’t have any service info (what I came on this site for), but I then managed to get the machine to fill. I then manager to reset to standby, and hey presto! I was able to run the 8 minute spin and drain. I have now run a hot cycle with some white vinegar, and she seems to have returned to normal!
I guess I may still have a leak somewhere, but I am now happy to spend the time tracing it if necessary.
The new Miele machines look okay, but only have a two year warranty, which doesn’t inspire much confidence.
I called one local repairer who wanted to charge me £60+VAT to come out and condemn the Miele, he was also quite keen to sell me a cheap Bosch as a replacement. I said the the Bosch would only likely last 5 years, to which he agreed, and then replied, “that’s about how long a new Miele would last too”.
Anyway, she lives to fight another day, And hopefully a few more years! -
