ParticipantMy daughter in law is having problems with her washer/dryer a Hotpoint Aquarius WD62P the other number is 45115283.
First question is there an easy way to clean the filter on this machine, in the past she has had to take the back off and its been very hard to get a clip off to clean it she thinks there must be an easier way.
Second, the machine keeps filling with water when not in use, she has to keep the door closed to stop it leaking onto the floor, its plumbed into an upright pipe with a trap that then seems to go back into the sink drainage somehow, what should we be checking to stop this happening please.
you guys are just great.
thanks

There’s only one way to deal with the filter, and you’ve found it…… 🙁
As the machine cannot be back filling because of the standpipe, the problem must lie with the fill valves. Start by removing the drawer and observing the back wall of the dispenser box – you may well see a slow trickle coming down. Then it’s a matter of following the hosework back to the valves to identify which is at fault. Power off, of course.

Hi Lynn,
It would suggest that one of the water solenoid valves is not closing properly and might need changing, not really a D.I.Y job.
As regards cleaning the filter I dont think that it is adviseable to be taking the back off the machine, i’m not being sexist it’s just that we have to be careful when giving advice to the public that they dont hurt themselves, as there could be a danger of electrocution or serious cut’s from sharp edges ect.
If the machine does not have a filter that can be easily accessed from the front then strictly speaking you would be better advised to call in your local ukw engineer.

What you can test is turn off cold tap and check if it fills still overnight. One of the valves (triple) feeds the condensor so you will not see it weeping. If no joy repeat with hot. Hopefully it is the hot as this is the cheaper of the two.

Thank you all very much, she is going to check with the drawer out and see whats going on. The machine is covered by breakdown insurance but we were worried that if this was down to the plumbing out that they would charge for the call-out. Does anyone know what happens in the case of the filter being blocked when you can’t access it, do they charge to do that in machines where its not possible to DIY?
Thanks again
