    Hi all,

I have a Whirlpool ‘Generation 2000’ (no other model number as far as I can see) built-in over which I suspect has a faulty element.

It does work i.e. it gets hot but it does not reach a high enough temperature. The internal fan is working ok.

Is it possible for an element to only partly work?

If it turns out to be the element, could someone post a link to the replacement that I need? I’ve been to shop@ but there seems to be no way of searching the products based on models/compatability.

    TIA

Re: Whirlpool ‘Generation 2000’ cooker advice

Over the years there have not been too many element changes to whirlpool appliances. For sure they are all available easily, go into directories or repairs@ and find a repairer near you, ok it’ll cost you but you get the guarantee and a good job done..

I would still be curious to know which part it is – if for no other reason than to check the price and make sure the guy isn’t overcharging me!

Generation 2000 is a generic range of appliances I’m afraid, without the correct model number we won’t be able to advise on parts. Check around the door opening for the rating plate.

Hi there, the Model according to the sticker inside is BS0801.

I’m wondering if it really is a problem with the element now. What I’ve noticed is that when I switch the oven on, the heating/power light only activates when I turn the ‘Temperature’ knob way up to the highest setting.

Even when set at 160 or so degrees, the heating light does not come on despite the fact that I have only just switched the oven on and there is no way it can already be up to that temperature in just a few seconds.

Does this sound more like a thermostat fault?

Also, I did a check for repairers but the nearest one to me in NW11 is in Luton. Are there any more local to Northwest London (Camden, Finchley etc)

This is definately a thermostat problem and a very common fault on this oven. Some of the other guys will respond with an engineer in your area I`m sure.

Indeed it does, it should “click” just past the off position, not an unusual complaint to be honest.

Thermostat will be circa £25 inc VAT.

If repairs@ doesn’t indicate so then there won’t be anyone else registered, Luton would have been FFR Services I imagine ?

That’s Bryan, he will do the job for you with no problem.

    Hope this helps 😀

    Dave.

Thanks, seems like all it needs is a simple thermostat replacement. Could you tell me where I can order one from? It doens’t seem to be in Shop@.
