ParticipantHi
I have a lamona 3304 oven where the I believe the cooling fan is always active and won’t power off, even when the oven hasn’t been used.
From reading online I think it could be failed fan thermostat, would I be correct in thinking this? If I am correct would anyone be able to point me in the direction of the part I need and a possible wiring diagram, so I know which one to replace?
I am new to the forum, so sorry if this question has already been asked, I have tried searching but couldn’t find anything specific to this model number. Would be really grateful if someone could help.
Thanks
Roy

ParticipantAs model LAM3304. It is made by Beko for Howdens. You are on the right tracks. The part number for the cooling fan t/stat ( i.e. NOT the main oven fan but the fan at the top = the cooling fan ) is 263410018 should be less than 11 quid. Try that first as most likely culprit. Another culprit can be the switch bank. There is no wiring diagrams available as far as known. IF you have to change the switch bank MAKE SURE YOU TAKE PHOTO/S or draw a picture of where the wires go on the switch bank tags before you attempt the part change – any cock-ups there and you`ll be right in the clagg. You would want to change one wire at a time.

ParticipantThank you very andyjawa. Do you have an instructions on how I can access the thermostat that I need to replace?

ParticipantPower off. Securing screws out from cabinet from its wooden cabinet – could be 2 or 4. Put oven on floor or on a work mate as need be. Fom dodgy memory: Move top panel metal screws remove top – might be 2 or 3 top at rear too. T/stat for cooling fan has a green paint mark, unscrew its screws replace with new t/stat change the wires over. Pretty basic stuff. There could be a red paint marked lookalike stat which is for something else but that is usually behind the back and if so leave that alone. Your new cooling fan stat may or may not have the green paint mark and might look different to the original but still only has 2 tags..

1. does it matter which way the prongs go? I couldn’t see a + or – and the green dot on the new stat was in a different place. Tried to match as best as I could.2. one of the pictures looks like the insulation has burnt. But I think this is actual grease from the oven as it’s also on the backing plate. Is this something to be concerned about?
3. What’s the best way to safely test that the stat is actually working? As with the prongs disconnecting and connecting the prongs results in the same result of the fan staying powered off until an oven mode is selected. Whereas on the old stat as soon as the oven was plugged into the mains the fan would spin.
.
1 prongs go anyway round its just a switch so it does not matter
2 yes your correct, insulation cant burn as its glass. discolouration is just fat from cooking
3 ok make sure you have correct stat, disconnect one wire. make sure it cant touch and switch oven on and make sure it still operates. if yes then order and fit new stat.

ParticipantGreat thanks Dave. That’s exactly what I did. So the idea is that cooling fan should turn on immediately with one wire disconnected and with both wires connected it should behave exactly the same. If there is a problem with the stat like what I previously had the fan would constantly operate. I guess the true test is seeing if the fan remains on for 20 mins or so after cooking and then turns off.

Moderatorassume you mean fan should NOT turn on immediately with both wires connected and it wont turn on at all with one wire connected provided you have correct stat
if you have not got correct stat, when one wire is removed, oven wont workDave

ParticipantThanks Dave. I’m a bit confused as the oven still turns on with one wire removed from the stat and the cooling fan still spins? Does this mean I potentially have the wrong part?
This was the part that I ordered following andyjawa advise. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163414043583?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=nLrjacJrQQO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=9MKG2muKRUy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

ParticipantTo help me understand better, when the cooling fan turn on for a fully working oven? Should it turn on as soon as a cooking mode is selected? Or just when the oven has reached temperature?

Moderatorjust checked wiring diagram and the fan will run with stat wire disconnected provided the oven is cooking. all the stat does id make the fan run on after you turn the oven off while it cools down

ParticipantThanks Dave, so I guess it’s all now working as it should and the only way to confirm is cook something in the oven and check to see if the fan remains on for 20 mins or so after it’s been turned off.
