Going to this machine for first time tomorrow, approx 3 years old. Complaint of no spin. would guess that the brushes/motor/belt will be my first port of call.

Not sure about the model no. but certainly carbon brushes on motor , as you suggested , most likely fault.Armature also normally needs a good clean before fitting new brushes. 😉

Apparently it is a MAXX Silver. Ironic thing is, she had a Hotpoint 9000 series, that first needed brushes after four years and lasted 12 years before she changed it. because she just wanted a new one.
