Hi have a Hoover fridge freezer MODEL HMNV6184DXWIFI
initial issue was fridge was freezing the food (below zero) so got a thermometer inside fridge it used to read around -4 (temperature set at plus 5)

I had a few weeks of vacation so emptied it and left it disconnected thinking it should reset any glitch in the system whilst I was away for a few weeks – coming back turning it on the problem is still present that fridge is staying warm and freezer is getting very cold

temperature set at 3 degrees for fridge and actual temp fluctuating between plus 5 and plus 13
Freezer temperature set at minus 18 and after 12 hours of running it is reading -50 (freezer is empty) and I can hear fan or compressor running constantly.

with it being all digital I would assume a thermostat has gone faulty? I have tried to contact shop I bough it from 2 years ago, and they say they can’t come out to fix it so they gave refund – and told me to get rid of the fridge myself, so I’m thinking I can try and see if it can be saved?

I do have basic fault finding skills and multimeter and etc so if there anything I can check or test that may help fault finding please let me know – any help appreciated.

Best guess is that it’s one or both sensors that ar in it.

There is one behind the rear cover of the fridge and one in the freezer but I’ve no way to tell which might be the issue but the good news is they are replaceable and not that expensive really. Getting to them will be the issue as that I can’t see.

Thanks for the above, so I have checked the sensors, the one in fridge, reads a pretty stable 2.570 kilo ohms at room temp – and making the sensor cold increases the resistance and warming up decreases it – so seems to be fine?

Same for the freezer one around room temp approx 2.700 kilo ohms at room temp, cooling it increases and warming decreases resistance

If the sensors are okay then I don’t know what could be causing that as they are, in effect, the thermostats.

Is there anyway to check the “electric damper” this opens and closes with he door switch according to my findings, and I have noticed if the fridge is set to coldest temperature and freezer set to warmest, then the temperatures are fine for 2-3 days (door switch taped in closed position), as soon as the doors are opened 2-3 times or if the temperature is increased on fridge the would mean the damper must open and close. this then immediately reverts back to initial issue of fridge +10 and freezer -50.

I removed the damper which has following info:
    FBZA-1750-7
    DC12V <60mA
    NO. 03 JUL20R SONXIE
it was stuck in closed position even manually pushing the door downside not work, after being out of freezer for maybe 15 minutes I can now push this door down manually without issue. and when I connect it to the freezer I can hear the damper door open and close as I open close fridge door and/or turn on or off the fridge from the touch panel.

so question is how can this be tested or possibly repaired? if not possible then last option may be to buy one? so I have looked online can get similar thing from aliexpress but the last line of part number is different how can I tell if it will be right for my fridge?

The damper is a known issue in those and it’s this one used:
